Johanna Frisch approaches space arrangement like poetry. She begins the process with engaged curiosity and deep listening. Using mindfulness practice as a cornerstone, she works intimately with clients to identify needs, values, and aspirations, as well as “things” that may be getting in the way. She partners with people to reimagine and actualize refreshed spaces that support greater health and well-being.

Johanna’s work is best described as space therapy, as she intuitively and collaboratively transforms spaces to support people in all phases of life, and especially during times of transition, healing, and growth. She provides support and consultation in apartments, homes, offices, hospitals, schools, businesses, campgrounds, restaurants, and…well, you name it!

Johanna is currently studying Health and Wellness Management at Winona State University. She is compelled towards evidence based design practices, including trauma informed design. She enjoys creative explorations of people and space through her ongoing project, ANCHORS IN SPACE, which currently includes intuitive movement and reiki.

Growing up in rural Minnesota, Johanna was deeply inspired by her mother, who was a voracious folk artist, high school home economics teacher, seamstress, church decorator, and gardener. At a very young age, Johanna remembers playing alongside her mother, rearranging spaces until they felt “right”, and hasn’t stopped since…

While working at a historic estate renovation in Tikøb, Denmark, in 2018, Johanna appreciated her daily treks through the area and marveled at some of the seamless ways Danish architecture and design connected fishing villages, old farms, crowded street cafes, and winding forest trails. She became interested in translating her Danish experiences - especially the philosophy of Hygge - in the Driftless Area. As a result, Johanna relocated back to her ancestral homeland in Winona, Minnesota, where she aims to create spaces in which people feel connected to the natural world and are uplifted and fortified throughout all four dramatic seasons of the year.

In earlier years, Johanna studied textiles and apparel design in Minneapolis before relocating to southern California, where she began raising a family, studying, and working in various project management, creative production, and healing arts roles. She is trained and certified in mindfulness education, reiki, and kundalini yoga. Ultimately, Johanna considers herself a never-ending student in life and a mother to three amazing human beings!
